Our company works actively to find the best eco-friendly packaging solutions. There are no adequate solutions on the market today for long-term shelf life for food.
Much can be achieved by optimising the degree of filling and designing good pallet stacking patterns. We work hard to find better solutions every day.
We remove residual oxygen from the package. This is an important tool in optimising shelf life. We also focus on removing oxygen by squeezing out any remaining air from our bags – this increases shelf life significant and is good for logistics.
Metal cans and plastic cups are unpopular packaging solutions – for good reason. We do not offer these anymore. Pouches contain substantially less material and are amongst the best solutions on the market, also where shelf life is concerned.
Standing bags are slowly taking more of the market share, for good reason. Good filling degree, easy to display, user-friendly (preferably with a zipper to facilitate re-use and ease-of-use etc.) make this one of the most attractive solutions.
CUs seems to be moving in both directions concerning size. There is more and more interest in portion packaging, as multipacks and single unit sales. We should remember that over 40% of households in Norway have only 1 or 2 persons.
On the other hand, we see an increase in the demand for large packages (so-called family packs). Large volume/quantity usually provides more for your money and less packaging with respect to product weight.
Plastic and metal are not desired materials anymore, so cardboard is a good option. We have 3 carton production lines to package food directly into the carton, without an inner poach. The cardboard is currently coated with a thin layer of polyethylene, but we are working actively to replace this with a thin and eco-friendly lacquer. This is still one of the best products available on the market and it is environmentally friendly.
